ITB Activities Planting and Inauguration of Plant Nursery Houses
ITB Planting and inauguration of ITB Nursery House was held on January 15, 2020 at ITB Jatinangor along with the inauguration of ITB Jatinangor Sports Facilities Building, in the event was attended by the Rector of ITB, Vice Rector, Director of Facilities and Infrastructure, Director of ITB Jatinangor, Head of West Java Provincial Forest Service, Head of BPDAS HL Cimanuk Citanduy, along with staff and its ranks and ALUMNI OF ITB 89. ITB planting activities were initiated by the Directorate of Facilities and Infrastructure which began with the planting of ketapang kencana trees simultaneously by event participants.
ITB planting activities are expected to make a real contribution to environmental improvement to the ITB campus community in particular and the wider community in general. Continued with the presentation of the ITB plant nursery house by the Director of Facilities and Infrastructure that ITB Nursery House is motivated by the COMMUNITY POPULATION of ITB Campus about 22,000 people consisting of Students, Lecturers, Education Personnel. Human needs to consume oxygen every day 740 kg / year, the need can be met equivalent to the oxygen produced by 6-8 mature trees each year of the population.
Ideally the oxygen needs for the ITB campus community can be met from oxygen generated from 132,000 tree trunks Based on the digitization of satellite images of tree population calculations in the ITB campus area and surrounding areas as many as 3846 tree trunks, this means we lack 128,154 trees. With the itb plant nursery house, it is expected to meet the shortage by starting from the plant / tree nursery to the stage of planting and care. The event continued with a speech and plaque giving to the Head of The West Java Provincial Forest Service, Head of BPDAS HL Cimanuk Citanduy and ITB 89 Alumni, who had participated in ITB Planting and seedling activities. and ended with the signing of the inscription on the inauguration of the Plant Nursery House by the rector of ITB Prof. Kadarsah Suryadi DEA.
